My Grandma’s Pancakes
If you’ve had the chance to peruse our new menu, you might have noticed our small dedication to our Grams. Her home baking was the inspiration behind our now famous pancakes when we started SYMPOSIUM, and I thought I’d tell you a little bit more!
If you’re local to the Peterhead area, maybe you’re already familiar with my grandma, Mrs. C.
Many moons ago, our grandma Winifred would rustle up batch after batch of her pancakes to feed friends and family alike. Inspired by her family recipe, we now do the same!
I have many fond memories of Grams’ house growing up. It seemed there was a constant stream of visitors, with friends & family pouring in the door for a cuppa and a catch-up. Always making sure everyone was fed, Mrs. C would whip up a batch of thick pancakes, and serve them up to her guests.
When we first started SYMPOSIUM, we knew we wanted our coffee houses to be a place where you would always find a friendly face (and a great cup of coffee!). Anyone who was there right at the start might remember that Paul used to make crepes, but remembering how popular Grams’ pancakes were, and recalling the fond memories from her family home, we decided to take her recipe and develop it.
And voilà! 15 years later we now serve these amazing pancakes across all our locations, inspired by this family recipe.
Our Pancake Toppings
Over the years, our menu has developed, and now we’ve got a whole bunch of incredible options for you to choose from when it comes to pancakes. Here’s a quick run down…
Banoffee Deluxe – The ultimate treat! Our gorgeous pancake served with sliced banana, sweet toffee sauce and topped with whipped cream.
The Canadian – Another customer favourite! We’ve been serving The Canadian for years, so we’re SO excited that it’s officially part of our menu. Delicious crispy bacon smothered in sticky maple syrup.
Caramello – Chocolate & toffee sauce topped with cream & chocolate chips – perfect if you’ve got a sweet tooth!
Dulce – Another customer favourite! We’ve been serving The Canadian for years, so we’re SO excited that it’s officially part of our menu. Delicious crispy bacon smothered in sticky maple syrup.
Maple – A classic. A fresh pancake covered in warm maple sauce.
Looking to keep it simple? Go for Nutella, Jam or Honey. We’d also recommend going for the double or triple stack if you REALLY want to treat yourself…
